Lace-Up, Twist, or Velcro Closure – Which Fits?
Karting shoes come in classic lace-up styles, with a twist quick-release closure (e.g. Sparco K-Formula), or with an F1-inspired velcro strap closure (Sparco K-Prime) for fast on/off in the pit lane. The Sparco K-Rapid is available in both lace-up and quick-release versions, some also water-resistant (WP).
FIA 8877-2022: The New Homologation Standard for Karting Shoes
Since 2022, the FIA 8877-2022 standard has introduced the first official homologation for karting shoes – mandatory on the international CIK-FIA calendar from 2025. Models like the Sparco K-Prime (with an ultra-thin TPU sole) already carry this certification. Most other karting shoes in our range are high-quality sport models without this homologation – fully sufficient for training, hobby karting, and most national races.
Materials and Fit
The upper is made of soft calfskin or microfiber leather with breathable mesh lining, depending on the model. The thin, flexible sole provides direct pedal feel – pro models like the K-Prime use an ultra-thin TPU sole.

Sparco covers the full range from entry-level to pro with models like K-Skid, K-Run, and K-Prime. OMP also offers a wide selection with the KS series (KS-1 to KS-XR). Alpinestars is represented by the Tech-1K series – some models also in kids' sizes for young karters.
