Karting Gloves
Karting gloves with a silicone grip across the palm for direct steering feel – for indoor and outdoor karting, from Alpinestars, Sparco and OMP, many homologated to FIA 8877-2022.
Grip and fit
The palm is what matters: printed or stitched silicone areas – 3D silicone at Alpinestars, an HTX coating at Sparco – give a secure hold on the thin kart wheel. The tight, pre-curved cut with a short elastic cuff fits like a second skin, while breathable honeycomb or mesh fabric on the back of the hand keeps hands cool. Alpinestars' Tech-1KX range uses external seams to avoid pressure points.
FIA 8877-2022 – the homologation standard for karting
Since 2022, FIA 8877-2022 has provided the first official homologation for kart clothing – mandatory on the international CIK-FIA calendar from 2025. Homologated models here include the Alpinestars Tech-1K v3 and Tech-1KX v4, the Sparco K-Arrow+ and K-Tide+, and the OMP KS-X. The remaining models are high-quality sport gloves without this standard – fine for training, hobby karting and most national races. The same standard applies to karting shoes and kart suits.
Rain and cold
For wet-weather outdoor karting there are water-repellent models with a softshell outer and warming fleece lining: OMP Rain K and Advanced Rainproof, Sparco Tide K, K-Tide+ and K-Arrow+ WP, and the Alpinestars Tempest WP range – the Tempest v3 WP is also homologated to FIA 8877-2022. The rubberised palm keeps its grip even when wet.
Brands and kids' sizes
Alpinestars covers entry level to professional with the Tech-1K and Tech-1KX series, several models also in kids' sizes for young karters.
